Things to know….
1.) First things first. All of the credit for this impromptu fundraiser goes to my friend Carrie and her Scottie Cherry @date_it_vintage. Carrie created these colorful bandanas to support Stuarts Fund. And to celebrate the life of her Daisy, a beautiful Scottie who passed very suddenly from hemangiosarcoma (HSA). Which is what brought us together. Thank you Carrie! Words can’t express how much we appreciate your kindness.
2.) Per Marcia Dawson DVM, “HSA is deep and silent and deadly. The term “haeme” is Latin for blood; “angio” is vessel; and “sarcoma” means cancer of the deeper connective tissues. Together, you have an incurable tumor arising from the cells that line blood vessels. Most commonly, HSA starts to grow in the spleen or the right atrium of the heart. It can also be located right below the skin, but the more critical forms are deeper in the body. HSA grows out of sight, not announcing its presence, causing no pain or obvious symptoms, spreading aggressively to other organs.”
3.) There is nothing you can do about hemangiosarcoma. By the time any symptoms appear, it’s too late. No tests. No definitive treatment. There was nothing Carrie could have done to help Daisy. And nothing she could have done to prevent the cancer. (Her vet lost her own dog to HSA.) And there was nothing we could have done for our Stuart.
4.) Although HSA is typically associated with golden retrievers, Portuguese water dogs, boxers, Skye and Boston terriers, and German shepherds, it also takes the lives of Scotties. Any dog can get it.
5.) Your gift to Stuarts Fund makes a difference. Because of you, our vets can one day tell us: “Your beloved dog has HSA. And here’s what we’re going to do about it.”
Time for the Bandana Bonanza!!
If you’d like to buy a bandana to support Stuart’s Fund, here’s how:
Because quantities are very limited – less than 50 available – you’ll need to act fast. $12.00 each (including USA shipping).
3.) Be the first to leave a comment like this on that blog post: “The Moo Moo is mine!” or “One large Jaws on Floats for me!” or “One red and green check, and one medium Sprinkles please!”
4.) If your comment is the first, the bandana is yours!
5.) If the one you want has a comment on it already, pick another one and repeat the process
6.) Send an email to: thepeepstress@scottiechronicles.com and include your name, shipping address and email address. You’ll receive an invoice for payment and it’ll be on its way to you!
7.) Multiple purchases available in one order – just be sure YOUR’S is the first comment for each style.
Thanks to YOU, a $600 donation is on its way to Stuart’s Fund.
That sweet boy Stuart. Such a pup will never be seen again. And so many like him who passed from hemangiosarcoma. A wretched disease. Absolutely wretched.
Winston, the Dad Peep and I are so very grateful for your support. And your friendship.
Your purchases and your contributions are putting us closer to learning more about HSA research. We’ll be keeping you up to date on that.
From the bottom of our hearts, ARRROOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
With your help, $243.91 was raised through the 2022 Stuart’s Fund T-shirt campaign. Your purchases and generous donations made it possible. Today, with the help of a dollar-for-dollar match from The Scottie Chronicles, and a bit more to round up, $500.00 is being put to use for hemangiosarcome research at the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.
You can still buy a shirt! Visit the Stuart’s Fund store and have fun shopping. While doing a tremendous service to help end HSA.
You can help put an end to hemangiosarcoma. Your purchase of a 2022 T-Shirt helps raise funds for crucial research. While the profits are a bit slimmer this time around because of supply chain issues, rest assured that your purchase helps.
In fact, every dollar from this year’s campaign will be matched by The Scottie Chronicles.
